submissions-225x300 (1)

Your baristas are interested in all genres of short fiction, poetry,  excerpts from novels-in-progress, and your photographs and art. We encourage you to share your work for publication in the Fictional Café. We review your work and choose the best  pieces to publish. Your submissions must be original material that has not been previously published elsewhere. We promptly acknowledge all submissions, but we don’t offer editorial advice. You’re welcome to revise and resubmit one time. Work we accept will be published here in the Café, and becomes eligible  for publication in our forthcoming print and e-book anthology. Remember, you must be a member of our Coffee Club to submit your work!

Guidelines for Manuscript Submission

  • Only email submissions accepted; send to submissions@192.185.77.94

  • Send your work as an attached Word document; the filename must include your name and the work’s name, i.e. “Hemingway – Bell Tolls” or “Browning, 3 Love Poems” – enough words so we can search for it if need be

  • Must be a work of fiction or poetry not exceeding 3,000 words; photographs and photos of art must be in .jpg file format, no larger than 2MB.

  • Please submit a single piece of fiction or nonfiction, or no more than three poems, per email; no novel manuscripts, please, but perhaps a chapter…

  • Your manuscript must be double-spaced, 12-point font

  • In the first-page header, upper right corner, provide your name, email address, word count, and page number

  • Send your work to submissions@192.185.77.94

We’re sticklers about your following these Guidelines for Submissions simply because it makes the process of working with writers more manageable and efficient. Please follow them to a T, and make sure your manuscript is free of typos, misspellings, and errors.

If we fall madly in love with your piece, we’ll email you to let you know we want to publish it here at the Fictional Café. We’ll ask you a few questions so readers can learn a little about the author of such an amazing work. You’ll also receive a really cool Fictional Café sticker for the bumper or window of your ‘63 Corvair as a thank-you for sharing your creative spirit with others who visit the café.

We respect the time and effort it takes you to write a stimulating and challenging work of prose or poetry. Thank you for your interest in publishing with us. We look forward to reading your work.
